Webb on Dungey

Brent Stallo from vurbmoto posted an interview today with Yoshimura/Suzuki's team manager, Mike Webb, that shed some light on a few different issues, but one in particular was his 2011 relationship with Ryan Dungey. Questions were raised in an interview Mike did with RacerX on May 9th, where he was asked about his mid-season hiring of James Stewart. As part of his answer, Mike said, "There was no baggage between us from either side, and going back to maybe the rider I worked with before, where there was a lot of baggage and there maybe wasn’t a good trust factor from the get go, none of that applied to this situation."

It is obvious that Mike was talking about Ryan when he says a rider I worked with before, and readers of that interview questioned what he might of meant by baggage. In the interview on vurb with Brent, he explains that Ryan was devastated by the loss of Decoster at Suzuki and went on to explain more saying, "I think Ryan is a great kid. I got nothing but respect for him. But as far as a working relationship, I never had a chance. I went into it, he didn’t know me, he had never worked with me, he had questions about everything and for good reason. His trust had been shattered."

Mike goes on to explain more in the interview and talks a lot about his new relationship with his current weapon of choice, James Stewart.
